“Belovezha Forest” is a captivating adventure comedy with fantasy elements about friendship, family and the power of nature.
It reminds us, the most stunning stories can come real if they are believed in. The cartoon movie is authentic and filled with pleasant music, kindness and humor. The movie shows a National Park and unique natural landscapes, giant trees, rare animals’ and plants’ species, as well as historical and cultural sites.
“This is our debut work. To create it, we used technology integrating several tools for graphics and animation. We trained the neural networks with the pre-prepared data and models. This included the artistic references, animation styles, characters’ features, and even script matters studying. Due to the many production stages’ automation and the use of the new tools, we have managed to create a full-length cartoon movie in an incredibly short period of time – within two months - with and by a team of several dozen persons,” says Oleg Atyakshev, director of the Belarusian studio Arteki.
At the end of 2024, a closed cartoon movie preview took place, which attracted a lot of attention and generated active discussion among the first viewers. The views’ number in media and social networks exceeded 20 million. The cartoon movie has attracted a lot of attention by both Belarusian and foreign audiences. In this regard, it was decided to make the movie be on general release on January 30, 2025.
On January 30, 2025, “Belovezha Forest” was released in more than 80 cinemas across the country.
Animation using neural networks is a new and unusual direction for viewers. “We can say that we have occupied a niche by being the first to release a full-length work on big screens. Thanks to neural networks, we were able to implement bold creative ideas and create a bright, dynamic story that will leave neither children nor adults indifferent,” added Oleg Atyakshev.
